Offshore wind leader appointed by ORE Catapult

Andy Macdonald will begin his new job on February 1st.

Andrew Macdonald has been appointed to director of offshore wind development and operations at ORE Catapult.

From February 1, 2022, Macdonald will begin his new post.

He will oversee ORE Catapult’s extensive portfolio of smart operations and maintenance (O&M) projects, working closely with offshore wind developers to speed the development of both fixed and floating offshore wind farms, reduce costs, and expand the UK supply chain to meet domestic and international demand for clean energy products and services.

Macdonald joined ORE Catapult as a senior innovation manager in 2013 and has been in charge of delivering high-impact innovation programs with UK small and medium businesses.

He most recently spearheaded the establishment of the Offshore Wind Growth Partnership (OWGP), a £100 million industry-funded UK supply chain growth initiative, which he will continue to manage in his new post.

“In Offshore Wind Development & Operations, we have an extraordinarily brilliant team, and I have no doubt that we will play a crucial part in unleashing innovation as the main enabler of development in an industry that is one of the UK’s great success stories and a vital enabler of Net Zero,” Macdonald said.

“Andy has played a key part in the success of ORE Catapult to far and has vast expertise and knowledge of the UK’s offshore renewable industry,” said ORE Catapult CEO Andrew Jamieson.

“His leadership in helping offshore wind producers’ future expansion and the development of the UK supply chain will further enhance our team and help to provide significant UK benefit from offshore wind’s sustained growth.”
