Norwegian energy company Equinor has chartered a service operations vessel (SOV) from compatriot company Simon Mokster Shipping for work on the 88MW Hywind Tampen floating offshore wind farm off Norway.

The charter, for the Stril Server SOV, will start in the second quarter of 2022 and run for 150 days plus options.

Stril Server has conducted several thousand successful W2W and crane operations at various wind farms in the North Sea over the last few years, Simon Mokster Shipping said.
It added that this will be one of the first SOV contracts serving floating wind turbines and therefore extra considerations has been made to manoeuvring capacities between two moving targets.
