Statkraft purchases 346 MW of onshore capacity in Germany and France

Breeze Three Energy sells its wind farm portfolio to a Norwegian energy company.

Statkraft, a Norwegian energy company, has purchased Breeze Three Energy’s 346MW wind farm portfolio in Germany and France for an undisclosed sum.

Statkraft’s European onshore wind power portfolio now includes 39 wind farms in Germany and four projects in France.

It also marks the company’s first foray into the market as the owner of a wind farm portfolio in Germany and France, according to the company.

From Bavaria in the south to Schleswig-Holstein in the north, Germany’s wind farms have a total installed capacity of 311MW.

The wind farms in France are spread across the regions of Normandy, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, and Pays de la Loire, with a total installed capacity of 35MW.

Statkraft European Vice President for Wind and Solar “Statkraft has ambitions to grow further within hydropower, wind, and solar power,” said Birgitte Ringstad Vartdal.

“By 2025, we want to be a major wind and solar developer, with an annual development rate of 2.5 to 3 GW.

“Today’s acquisition solidifies our position as a key renewables player in Europe and allows us to expand our portfolio in Germany and France.

“With our solid experience in developing, managing, operating and marketing renewable assets, Statkraft is the right owner of the acquired wind farms to continue optimising operations and to bring part of the portfolio into lifetime extension.”
