Green Investment Group (GIG) has awarded Offshore Design Engineering (ODE) an owner’s engineer and package manager contract for offshore wind projects it is involved in developing and investing in in South Korea.
The award will see ODE’s Korea office, which opened in January 2021, executing engineering on projects totalling over 500MW in the country.
Across the contract, ODE will manage a range of packages including foundations, cables, electrical interface, and onshore engineering, and will support GIG through the concept, front end engineering design (FEED) and detailed design engineering phases.
ODE will deploy its international expertise through its Asia Pacific engineering team, drawing on experience gained from supporting the development of offshore wind farms in the UK, Europe, Japan, Vietnam and Taiwan.
ODE South Korea country manager Jinho Paik said: “This is a significant milestone in the development of ODE’s operations in Korea; we are looking forward to collaborating with GIG to deliver these projects and to build relationships with our local suppliers.”
ODE renewables director David Robertson said: “This is another significant win for Jinho Paik and his team in Korea.
“We are delighted to be building on earlier successes in this dynamic and exciting market.”
