EnBW North America has announced that Lars  Gonschorek will be full-time chief executive and chairman of the board, while Damian Bednarz (pictured) will  serve  as managing director.

Gonschorek brings with him over a decade of experience in offshore wind development, the company said.

He was previously acting president and chief executive, having been responsible for establishing EnBW’s early presence on the ground in the US.
This included advancing offshore wind markets on both the east and west coasts of the US and helping to build the company’s team  in North America.

Bednarz will  serve  as managing director, after shaping the company’s community-first engagement strategy with key stakeholders and coalitions in the New York Bight over the last 18 months as external affairs director.

He has experience of clean energy issues and projects at the local and federal level and served in senior roles at the Obama-Biden administration’s Department of Energy.

The leadership group will continue to build out EnBW North America’s mission and growing team in the US.

EnBW said the Biden-Harris administration’s swift action in the first half of 2021, resulting in a target for 30GW of operational offshore wind by 2030, creates further certainty for investment and commitment to the US offshore wind market.
